Retired & Teenage Cats

In order for our program to function properly, we sometimes need to place older cats, or young cats who did not meet our high standards for breeding, into pet homes to avoid becoming “cat hoarders”. While it breaks our heart to do so, we need to be able to maintain a safe level of diversity in our cattery’s genetic pool and it is the best for the spayed/neutered cats to avoid being harassed by our hormonal breeding cats.

This page includes both retired cats, meaning those who have sired or birthed one or more litters, and teenage cats who have not had litters/did not pass all of our standards for breeding. Teenage cats will typically range from 10 months to 2 years old while retired cats will be anywhere from 1.5-5 years old. Even when all is perfect with a breeding cat, we always retire them by the maximum age of 5 years, so they can spend a good portion of their lives being pampered in a nice pet home. Prices will vary for these cats depending on age, quality, and health.

Just like our kittens, we will require an approved application for us to consider rehoming one of our retirees to you. Please specify in the application which retiree(s) your are applying for, on the last question about additional information. Or you can simply send us a message if you are already a Greek Garden kitten owner. Thanks!

Pandora - Teenage Cat

Brown Classic Torbie Polydactyl Born May 2nd, 2025

  • Wisdom Panel Genetic Panel: Passed, 100% clear of any DNA detectable genetic diseases
  • Registration: TICA Registered
  • Microchipped, UTD on Vaccinations
  • Spayed
  • Price: $3500 ($3200 if paired with Eris)
  • Passed Patella exam and heart auscultation; Hips failed unilaterally (one side failed) with a grade 2/OFA Mild
  • Good show potential; showed as an intact cat and did well
  • Parasite free!

We were so excited to welome Pandora into our home in Fall of 2025. She was planned to be our last import (born in Russia) for quite a while, and from one of our favorite catteries!

Pandora attended a TICA show with us in February of 2026, where she placed 1st Best of Breed twice, beating our RW QGC James Bond of GreekGarden (Kratos) in those two rings!

Pandora is half sister to our Queens Clio and Chloe, all of them sharing a mom. Sadly, while hips have a huge genetic component, they are also a bit of a statistics game and occasionally even from two great-hipped parents and with no recent family history of hip dysplasia, it can still pop up in the offspring. This is where we got unlucky with Pandora. Her dysplasia is only on one side, fortunately. She is asymptomatic, does not limp or show any signs of pain, but it is possible she might need a one sided FHO (femoral head ostectomy) in the future to correct her dysplasia.

This can be an expensive surgery, and we will be happy to fully cover the cost of surgery if she is brought to our vet here in UT for the procedure, in the event the surgery is ever needed, at any point throughout her lifetime. (If she shows any signs of pain, or if the hip dysplasia is affecting her quality of life in any way.)

Pandora is a bit more laid-back compared to Eris, but she can also be vocal and likes to play and get attention. She is a much larger girl at 14.5 lbs currently, and only 1 year old. She will likely continue to get larger.

Eris - Teenage Cat

Red Mackerel Tabby Born November 17th, 2024

  • Wisdom Panel Genetic Panel: Passed – 100% clear of any DNA detectable genetic diseases
  • Registration: TICA Registered
  • Microchipped, UTD on Vaccinations
  • Spayed
  • Passed Hip radiographs, Patellas, and Heart Ausculations
  • Price: $3,500 ($3,200 if paired with Pandora)
  • Parasite free!

Eris was a keep back from our Spartan Litter from Queen Calliope and King Apollo. Unfortunately, she just did not develop into breeding quality like we had hoped, due to her slightly shorter legs and body and a nose bump (cosmetically undesirable for shows).

Eris has a darling personality and a very unique, adorable, high-pitched little squeaky meow. She vibrates her tail when she is excited, which happens just about every time she sees us. She loves to be near people and gets offended about closed doors.

Eris is currently 10 lbs. She is not an overly huge girl, although she is densely built with thick legs and a thick torso. She is great friends with Pandora, and we would prefer the two stay together.

Ollie/Greek Garden Ares - Teenage Cat

Red Classic Tabby Born Easter Day March 31st, 2024
Greek Garden Kitten, Spartan Litter (Calliope x Apollo)

*Ollie is in his new home!*

  • CatScan Genetic Panel: All clear
  • Registration: TICA and CFA Registered
  • Microchipped, UTD on Vaccinations
  • Neutered

Ollie, birth name Ares, was born here at Greek Garden on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024. He is a large and stunning, incredibly vibrant red classic tabby.

Ollie was returned to us because as an only cat, we believe he developed something called “Single Kitten/Cat Syndrome”. He is very loving and very social, but he began to get a little too aggressive while playing with his human mom – as you can imagine, “sneak attacks” from a cute little kitten are one thing, but when that kitten turns into a 17-18 lb tank engine, they can be a little less fun.

Since the change in environment and being introduced to his half-brother, Milo/Atlas, we have definitely noticed a calmer demeanor in Ollie. It’s hard to say whether it will stick, but we are optimistic about his future.

We would strongly prefer Ollie goes to a home with Milo/Atlas, if not, we do require he at least goes to a home with other cats and/or dogs.

Milo/Greek Garden Atlas - Teenage Cat

Blue Classic Tabby Boy Born Nov. 23rd, 2023
Lunar Litter

*Milo is in his new home!*

  • MyCatScan Genetic Panel: Passed – 100% clear of any known genetic diseases
  • Registration: TICA and CFA Registered
  • Microchipped, UTD on Vaccinations
  • Neutered

Milo – cattery name Atlas – was born here at Greek Garden Cattery on Thanksgiving Day of 2023 to our Queen Iris and King Apollo.

Milo has been an incredible, loving family cat in Miami since he went to live with them at 12-13 weeks old, however, due to the allergies of a new family member, he returned to us.

Milo is a true gentle giant. He is calm and patient, especially around children, and loves to lounge around. He is a bit more timid of new surroundings but loves attention and likes to be right next to his humans.

We decided to do a contract for spay/neuter for our very first litters (including Milo’s) because at the time we did not have an appropriate understanding of ESN (early spay/neuter). Milo did not go home neutered and unfortunately seems to have been the only one of these first litters to never have gotten neutered in his new home. Once he arrived here with us, he was neutered within a week and is now healed. However, his mane will likely take a few more months to sprout. Many Maine Coons get something called “Spay Coat” where, once neutered or spayed, they will finally grow in their luxurious mane – the hormones of an intact cat can sometimes prevent decent hair growth.

Milo lived as an only cat in his new home, and has become friends with Ollie (Ares) since arriving back with us. We would prefer the boys go to a home together if possible.

Phoebe - Teenage Cat

Blue Silver Classic Torbie Girl Born 11/23/2023
Greek Garden Kitten, Lunar Litter (Iris x Apollo)

*Phoebe is in her new home!*

  • 14 Months Old
  • CatScan Genetic Panel: All clear
  • Registration: TICA and CFA Registered.
  • Medical: Spay completed in Summer of 2024. No known health issues, Phoebe is a very active and healthy girl.
  • Microchipped, UTD on Vaccinations

Phoebe is an incredibly sweet, active, playful girl. She is sister to our Queen Selene and has never had any health issues. She is approximately 10 lbs, we expect she will reach 12 lbs fully grown (average maine coon weight for breed standard females is 9-13 lbs). Phoebe went to her new home at 14 weeks, just like the rest of her littermates, and was doing wonderful. However, out of the blue in fall of 2024, we received a message that Phoebe needed to come back to us immediately, or her owner was threatening to euthanize her.

Videos of Phoebe showing her incredible temperament have been temporarily posted on our instagram. To find them, go to our profile and click on the hightlight reel “Phoebe”.

This was a case of the wrong cat for the wrong home, something we try our best to avoid. Phoebe is a very active and playful kitten, and her energy was interpreted by her owner as aggressive (because she likes to play bite, although she purrs the entire time). To highlight the difference – aggressive cats will try their best to avoid humans, where Phoebe only wants to be around us at all hours of the day. There is not an aggresive bone in her body. We have worked with her and lived with her for a few months and she has never once acted aggressively. She cuddles up right next to us at night and always seems to be purring.

Phoebe became accustomed to being an only cat, and may take a while to adjust to any new furry family members. She adjusts much more quickly to young kittens than to adult cats. She loves every human.

Aphrodite - Retired Queen

Red Solid Girl Born April 1st, 2022

*Aphrodite is now in her new home!*

  • Heart Echocardiogram: 2 performed – October 2023 (passed), October 2024 (passed)
  • “Wisdom Panel” Genetic Panel: Passed (1 carrier, no at-risk)
  • Registration: TICA and CFA Registered
  • Medical: Dental cleaning and spay completed in March 2024
  • Microchipped, UTD on Vaccinations

Aphrodite was our very first Maine Coon, and we have been strongly procrastinating rehoming her because of how special she is to us. Aphrodite is also the longest cat we have ever seen; even as a young girl, she spanned the entire length of our doorways. She is exceptionally large.

Aphrodite was spayed this spring and we have noticed how unamused she has become with the hormonal behavior of the unspayed/unneutered Kings and Queens here. We had wanted to keep her to be a grandmother to her daughter Athena‘s litter, whenever Athena mates, however, we feel this is just not fair to Aphrodite. She needs to be in a home by herself or with other spayed/neutered cats.

Aphrodite – “Aphro” or “Froofers”, as we call her, is still very young and has a lot of life left to spend as a spoiled retiree. She only had one litter, our Odyssey litter, and then was spayed. The reason for this was because she carried one genetic copy of HCM (hypercardiomyopathy). It has been proven in studies that one gene of HCM does not increase a cat’s risk of getting the disease, and Aphrodite has no family history of developing the disease.

Per wisdom panel, “Research studies have shown only cats with two copies of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (Discovered in the Maine Coon) variant have increased risk of this disorder, so Aphrodite should not show signs of this condition due to this variant”.

You can read this for yourself on Aphrodite’s wisdom panel page.

Heart echocardiograms are a much more accurate way to diagnose HCM and Aphrodite has been tested clear twice, the most recent in October 2024. However, we decided it was best to completely remove the gene from the lines anyway – which is why we spayed her and kept her daughter Athena, who does not carry any copies of the gene.

Summer - Teenage Cat

Red Silver Classic Tabby Girl Born November 12, 2022

*Summer is now in her new home!*
  • Heart Echocardiogram: Passed
  • Complete Blood Panel, including FIV and FeLV: Passed
  • Respiratory PCR: Passed
  • CatScan Genetic Panel: Passed
  • Registration: TICA and CFA Registrable
  • Medical: Dental cleaning March 26th 2024, Spay and Hernia repair March 6th 2024.
  • Microchipped, UTD on Vaccinations

Summer is a gorgeous, incredibly sweet girl. She loves people and getting attention. She is very much a lap cat and likes to sit on our desks and purr while we work. She does not love other cats but doesn’t seem to mind dogs.

Update April 6th: After a few weeks of “introduction therapy”, Summer is getting along well with our other Queens. While we cannot guarantee what the length of time will be for her to get used to possible other pets in her forever home, this is very promising for Summer’s future furry friend social life.

Summer failed our program qualifications because she arrived much smaller than she looked in pictures we were sent, and had an inguinal hernia, which as you can imagine is not suitable for breeding both because of the genetic risk to kittens and because of the pressure pregnancy would put on her abdomen. The hernia has been repaired and Summer has gained weight since being with us. She is spayed and ready for a new home.

Artemis - Teenage Cat

Red Classic Tabby Girl Born February 28th 2023

*Artemis is now in her new home!*
  • Heart Echocardiogram: Passed
  • Complete Blood Panel, including FIV and FeLV: Passed
  • Respiratory PCR: Passed
  • CatScan Genetic Panel: Passed
  • Registration: TICA and CFA Registrable
  • Medical: Dental cleaning, tooth pulled, and spay March 26th 2024
  • Microchipped, UTD on Vaccinations

You will not find a more outgoing and loving girl than Artemis. I would describe her as “aggressively loving”, not in the sense that she hurts us or is mean at all, but that she will force you to give her attention by head-butting you and stand on her back legs to be picked up. Artemis also gets along with our other cats. It’s impossible not to love her, and we are devastated to have had to make the decision to fail her from our program.

When Artemis was shipped in, the courier gave her large dog food kibble instead of cat food for her 4 day journey. She cracked her front left canine tooth on it. We are very upset about this of course, but not much to be done except fix it. The tooth has been pulled and Artemis is back to eating with no pain.

Artemis failed our program qualifications because she got an ear infection. Ear infections in cats are not normal, and as our vet has explained they can be genetic. I remember getting ear infections myself as a kid and most of my siblings ended up with them around the same age as well. We don’t want to create kittens that will also get ear infections. Artemis also got a goopy left eye (conjunctivitis) for a while, after a couple vet visits and resolution attempts we finally got it to go away with some antibiotic eye gel. Her eye (and ear) is all better now and shouldn’t require further care.
